Beds: frequently asked questions
What size is a queen bed in Australia?
A queen mattress is 153 x 203 cm. A king is 183 x 203 cm, a super king 203 x 203 cm, a double 138 x 188 cm and a single 92 x 188 cm. The bed frame adds roughly 10 to 30 cm to the width and length.
Queen or king bed: which should I choose?
A king is 30 cm wider than a queen and is worth it for couples who share with children or pets, or who simply want more room. A queen fits more bedrooms and leaves space for bedside tables and a path around the bed.
Do I need a bed base or ensemble with a bed frame?
Usually not. Most of our bed frames have slatted bases that support the mattress directly, so you need only the frame and a mattress. The product page says if a particular bed needs a base.
Gas-lift bed or bed with drawers?
A gas-lift bed lifts the whole mattress platform and stores the most, ideal for things you keep rather than use daily. Drawers in the base are easier to reach every day and suit spare linen and clothes.
How much space do I need around a bed?
Allow at least 60 cm either side of the bed to get in and out and to open bedside drawers, and more at the foot if wardrobes or drawers open into the space.
Do you deliver and assemble beds in Perth and regional WA?
Yes. Add the bed to your cart and enter your postcode to see the delivery price; some regional areas need a custom quote through Find A Store. White-glove delivery includes unpacking, assembly and removal of packaging.
